A MESSAGE FROM THE VISUAL ARTS CHAIR

- Barry Markowitz

The LACHSA Dance Department prepares future generations of dance artists and thinkers to enter their world with confidence and a courageous, creative spirit. Throughout their four years, dancers receive a strong basis of technical and artistic training with dance teachers/mentors from throughout the world, who generously share their professional expertise and insights with our students.

Dance majors are immersed in a diverse curriculum of classical and contemporary ballet, foundational modern techniques, jazz dance, contemporary, world dance forms, dance composition studies, dance history, health and wellness, social justice in dance and more.

Students’ experiences are enhanced with Master Classes taught by internationally recognized guest dance artists, teachers, choreographers and directors.
